TropicAle

American Pale Ales (APA) are simple and fun to brew all year round and it is because of those reasons that it is a style that I brew often.  This is the second time that I am brewing this recipe but I have tweaked this version, mainly on the hop bill.  The last time I used Nelson Sauvin on its own, but this time around I’ve paired it with Citra and Sorachi Ace for a more fruity, tropical and citrusy flavour. This will hopefully be a nice “summer shandy".

  2. Were you really happy with this brew? I was thinking about following your recipe for the most part on my next brew day.

    1. It’s still force carbonating as we speak and so far I’ve only tasted the hydrometer sample. But it was very much tropical, fruity and “juicy”. kinda gives it a sweet taste without being actually sweet. Killer flavour and aroma. I’ll bring a small sample at the meeting this w-e ;)

  3. I have to work today unfortunately. I'm going to try brewing something similar tomorrow though. I don't have any Nelson Sauvin so I'm going to sub in cascade. I'm hoping it's citrus and grapefruit flavors will go well in this recipe.
